| Physical Description | Shae, in her natural state, is petite and willowy with a pale complexion and waist length hair. Her fingers are long, longer than they should be on a humanoid form, but nimble and delicate. Instead of feet, she has digitigrade paws with creamy white fur up to her knees. Her ears are large and floppy, covered in more fur, and capable of moving to follow sounds or articulate her moods. Her cheeks, shoulders, and fur blend to patches of darker tones speckled with white spots. Finally, she has a long, prehensile tail covered in long, creamy white fur. Since El Aurians age slowly, she appears to be about 17 or 18 years old. Being a Chameloid, she can assume a variety of forms. She can mimic most biped and quadruped forms and can maintain the form more or less indefinitely. Her skeleton is not made of bone but rather a specialized cartilage which allows for the change in size as well as incredible flexibility. Her muscles, designed to facilitate the shifting, also allows for strength beyond what her lithe frame should be capable. She could match a young Klingon in strength, but she is still limited by her size. The only thing she cannot change about herself is her eyes, which have slit pupils. She can retract her tail to achieve a fully humanoid form. When she shifts her paws into humanoid feet, her gait is unnatural and practiced. It's subtle and few are likely to notice it. |

| General Overview | Shae is most often quiet and reserved, willing to watch events unfold and then react. She’s been known to take initiative when the situation calls for it, in fact she understands that initiative is necessary on the job, but she prefers being an observer. She doesn’t shirk conversation and social interaction; she enjoys being sociable, but she’s always watching, always listening. Shae is also a damaged individual. Years of being held back because of her race has taken its toll on her confidence and she's often afraid to speak to others. She is quickly learning that her days of mistreatment are behind her, but changes to behavior take time and she is having trouble adjusting to her new environment. |

| Strengths | Her attentiveness can be both a strength and a weakness. While attention to detail is often necessary, she can often become so engrossed in her work that she loses track of herself and the world around her. Luckily, she is aware of this fault and sets reminders so that she does not forget about the reality outside of her workstation. She also lacks confidence in herself as a person, but has full confidence in her skills as a scientist; a strange contradiction, one that she struggles with daily to find a balance between the person and the scientist. | |

Personal History
| Personal History | Shae doesn’t remember much about her life before she was adopted. She was found on an unnamed planetoid in Klingon space by a supply ship that detected a distress signal. The Klingons were informed of the crashed ship and details of the casualties for their investigation and the captain of the supply ship received permission to take the child they had found and continued on their route. Shae was near starved to death but the ship medic was able to nurse her back to health. She was terrified of being alone now that she was surrounded by so many people, so each crewman took turns keeping her company while on their route until they could return to a settlement that could take her. Along the way, she captured the heart of the ship’s pilot, Liam Brennan, who eventually took her home to his wife on Earth where they adopted her. Her name, originally just Shae, was changed to Kalin Shae Brennan, although she continues to go by Shae. Following the example of her three older brothers, she worked hard to make it into Starfleet Academy. Her entrance was delayed by an unexplained disappearance just after the start of the Dominion War, when she was detained by Section 31. After the war was over, she was rescued (by Lt Colonel Howden and his team) and returned home, never speaking of what happened during her absence. Upon completion of high school, she applied for Starfleet Academy. |
Prof. History
| Service Chronology | Given the scare of Changelings during the war not to mention her youthful appearance and her locked Section 31 records, Starfleet was hesitant to admit her, but she persevered until Starfleet relented. She earned honors in Astrophysics with specializations in both Stellar Cartography and Astrometrics, although this accomplishment took an extra year because Starfleet Medical kept pulling her from classes to study her, so she had to make up missed classes. She voluntarily extended her stay again to take the necessary courses to serve as bridge crew, as flight control. Starfleet was hesitant about sending her out for duty when she graduated. She still looked very young and there was some worry that she would not be taken seriously. Some of her instructors had requested she assume a more mature form while a student and her superiors suggest the same for her wherever she was placed. She said she was willing to maintain a more mature form, but voiced her feelings that she shouldn’t have to do it, that it felt like a lie to wear a face that was not her own. She tried to make a comparison to Vulcans who also aged slowly, but Vulcans had reputation where she was an unknown. And she was a Changeling. The war may have been over, but mistrusts and fears ran deep. They would not command her to change her shape to blend in, but she understood their reason and eventually conceded. Her first assignment was a teacher’s aid at the Academy, helping to prepare and present lectures and monitored equipment the students would use in their assignments, keeping her close so they could observe her. After several years, she was transferred to the USS Octavian, a transport going to and from the Lunar Colonies as well as transporting Cadets and trainees to the training grounds, but she continued to assist at the Academy in between routes. |
