While her father spent most of her formative years on assignments Naomi nevertheless had a mostly normal early childhood. From an early age it had become clear that she displayed a stronger than normal ability to listen and anticipate the needs of others, perhaps as a result of the El-Aurian genes she got from her mother. In part due to the trips she took with her father when he was on leave but also due to the area she grew up in she was also fascinated with history from an early age. Later on she would also develop an appreciation of the written word. On her 10th birthday her parents had two announcements to make, the first was that her father would be retiring from Starfleet and the second that they were expecting another child. As soon as Amalia was born Naomi knew she was going to take care of her little sister. With no problems at home Naomi managed to put all her energy into her education and would ace most tests. Once she was 18 she decided to pursue a civilian career in the Medical field, to be more precise psychiatry. To start off this career path she applied for, and was accepted into, the Cognitive Science program at John Hopkins. She immediately felt at home there and while she did miss her family managed to adapt well. This experience was incredibly productive and due to her interest in the field she graduated on time in 2365. She continued her academic career by applying for the Psychiatry M.D,/Ph.D. program at the John Hopkins School of Medicine. While she approached the conclusion of medical school it became increasingly clear the Federation was not staying the same, the Federation-Klingon War had broken out and everyone knew the Dominion War was soon to follow. In perhaps an impulsive decision, following her graduation she immediately applied for Starfleet. Her research had given her quite some experience and she felt Starfleet was where her skills would be used most productively. |

Service Record | Due to her prior education, the need for capable Officers and a recommendation from her father's previous Commanding Officer who was now an Admiral in Starfleet Medical, she was admitted on a shortened program to becoming an Officer. Upon graduation inn 2375 she was immediately assigned to the Department of Mental Health at Starfleet Medical on Earth. With the Dominion War having raged for several years now the department was heavily undermanned with so many people returning from the front lines in a horrible mental state. As the Federation hadn't seen a war such as this in a very long time the existing literature on it had become quite outdated and innovative approaches were needed to best take care of the veterans. Her prior experience allowed her to work on developing such new approaches which proved effective, as a result of her work she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2380. She would continue working on further improving her methods and educating new Cadets at Starfleet Academy until as a result of her father going ill she took an extended leave of absence in 2386. After the death of her father in early 2388 she initially considered resigning and returning back to civilian life permanently however the same Admiral who had sponsored her entry into Starfleet had convinced her to return. |
