Physical Description		Giovanni is a tall human male with black hair that is graying in some areas. He has passively light blue eyes but they do stand out in contrast to his black hair and olive tanned skin tone. He has a lean yet muscular build that inform others that he does take take of his body and is not one to simply sit in a chair or stand behind a computer console all day.

Strengths		Physically, Giovanni is rather strong. He maintains his body well and is constantly active. He has a very creative mind and has the ability to see a finished product in his mind so that he can work to construct it. Away from working with metals and electronic circuitry, Giovanni is a certified shuttle pilot and a damn good one albeit more so when there is something to gain from being fast and risky.
Weaknesses		Though he is smart in some areas, Giovanni is not a astro/spacial scientist. His scientific knowledge is rather limited to the inner workings of starships and other spacecraft and the design of them. He is indeed quite smart but not intelligent enough to merit being called a genius.
Hobbies & Interests		Giovanni is a very hands on type, enjoying working with his own hands. His hobbies include shuttlecraft racing, welding and various metal work. It is in his nature to design and build things. Athletically, Giovanni enjoying boxing, wrestling, mixed martial arts and archery.

Personal History

Giovanni DeCosta was born in Milan, Italy on Earth. Giovanni has very limited memories in regards to his mother as he was primarily raised by his father and grandparents. His father was an enlisted man in Starfleet who worked as a maintenance technician at Starfleet Academy. Giovanni learned about how work and dedication from a very young age, watching his father work hard just to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table, replicated or otherwise. Even from a young age, Giovanni was good with his hands and was interested in building things. He wanted to be like his father, an technician someone who could fix things and keep computer systems running. However, his father wanted better for Giovanni, seeing his son's potential. Giovanni's father pushed his son to go to take the entrance examinations for Starfleet Academy rather than enlisting. Gio did not want to waste time. He wanted to get involved in Starfleet immediately. So, when he turned 18 in 2363, Giovanni signed up for Starfleet, enlisting much to his father's displeasure. He was off too basic training.

Service Record		Giovanni DeCosta enlisted in Starfleet in 2363, finishing basic training shortly after where he was assigned to the USS Bova. The Bova was sent to the Beta Quadrant on an eight year mission outside of Federation territory around the Crimson nebula. Life on the Bova took some getting used to, especially for a young man who was used to running free in the open air. The Bova was a smaller science vessel. It was cramped and after eight years of serving on her, Giovanni felt like he knew everything about everyone on the science vessel. When he first joined the crew of the Bova, Giovanni was in the Engineering Department working as an Engineer's mate for a handful of months before earning a promotion to Crewmen and advancing to the position of Structural-Environmental Specialist. Crewmen DeCosta served as Structural-Environmental Specialist aboard the Bova from 2364 to 2369 before making some changes and moving over to serve as Computer Systems Specialist upon promotion to Petty Officer 3rd class. This position was held by DeCosta from 2369 until the completion of the Bova's eight year scientific assignment. Though he quite enjoyed being out in space, exploring the unknown, charting planets and studying nebulae, Giovanni was ready to move on with his life and career in Starfleet. He had grown tired of being on a starship where the majority of the small crew compliment were science officers. DeCosta transferred from the USS Bova to the USS Jupiter, an Akira-class starship that saw a lot of combat in the 2370s by means of the Federation-Klingon War and the Dominion War. From 2369 until 2376, a year after the conclusion of the Dominion War, Giovanni DeCosta served on the USS Jupiter starting in 2369 as the ship's Computer Systems Specialist holding the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class and finishing in 2376. When the war came to an end, the Jupiter was in dire need of repairs and refitting. This lead to DeCosta transferring to the Sovereign-class, USS Destiny. Aboard the Destiny, Giovanni left the Engineering Department and switched over to Flight Control where he served furs years 2376-2380 as the ship's Shuttlebay Manager where he reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Switching from Engineering to Flight Control was a career advancing move that paid off as serving as the Shuttlebay Manager attracted the attention of Destiny's Command staff. He was nominated as a candidate for Officer Training which after constant prodding by the Destiny's First Officer and Commanding Officer, he agreed to. So, after a handful of classes and examinations, Chief Petty Officer DeCosta earned the commissioned rank of Ensign and reassigned to the USS Dunway, serving for four years as a Flight Control Officer. For the first time in his life, Giovanni was an officer. There were more responsibilities and duties for him as a Flight Control Officer on the Dunway but he relished every chance he got to take the helm controls and pilot the USS Dunway or her support craft. However, after a few years in Dunway's Flight Control Department, Giovanni transferred to the Operations Department for an additional four years as an Operations Officer receiving a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade. However, in 2388 when the opportunity presented itself, Giovanni requested transfer to the USS Arizona to serve as Assistant Chief Operations Officer.
