Oh you little lifeforms...

Mission: Prelude; Breakfast at Curmudgeon's
Location: Primary Science Lab - Deck 7
Timeline: MD 2: 08:00hrs

Borg, Hirogen, Turei, Vaadwaur, and The Hierarchy. That was the short list of species Alex decided she need to focus on, at least initially. Especially given the area of space they were headed.

And so, Alex found herself in the Primary Science Lab researching what the computer and external databases had on those species, and the surrounding space of their regions.

The Primary Science Lab of the Arizona was clearly superior to that of Alex's previous assignment. But then the USS Kadek was only a patrol vessel; fly out, do a thing, come home. Not much need for a fully kitted state of the art Science Lab. But the Arizona was a deep space explorer, so it had all the shiny bells and whistles. And shiny they were indeed. All the lights, and the beeps and boops. Alex hadn't seen such a high level of technology since she'd worked at Synthitel. Part of her was giddy, like a silly school girl. So many fancy new toys to play with. But another part of her was wary, too much technology could lead to a reliance upon it.

Either way, she did need computer access, so technological reliance seemed an inevitability, plus the chance of synthetic intelligence uprisings seemed to be quite low, at least for today.

She knew she would have expand upon her short list as the mission went on. Hopefully she could eventually become fully versed in all the known species of the Delta Quadrant, and do away with any reliance on the computer.

But for now, just these five.

The Borg. What more could be said about the Borg that most Starfleet cadets don't already know? Whilst they were terrifying, and formidable, from a research point of view they were boring.

The Hirogen are to hunting as the Klingons are to war. Obsessed with every aspect of it. Which meant they could potentially be exploited if the right cultural incentive was applied.

The Turei were very difficult to research. They're were notoriously xenophobic and secretive. Rumoured to have connections with fellow exothermic species, the Voth. And considered themselves the rightful owners and keepers of Underspace corridors.

The Vaadwaur, an ancient militant race, all but destroyed by an alliance of other species (that included the Turei), risen from the proverbial ashes by the actions of USS Voyager. They claim to be the original owners of the Underspace corridors, but their claim is no more readily evident than the Turei's.

The Hierarchy. Based on initial reports she read, mostly from the Doctor from Voyager, she thought that maybe the Hierarchy forgot the intelligence part of Intelligence Gathering. But upon further review, she felt that the Hierarchy were actually very intelligent, and the one's encountered by Voyager were merely outliers. Secretive, paranoid, obsessive about surveillance. The Hierarchy could be a valued ally if they could be trusted, which they can't be.

There were also several minor species of the region that Alex felt she needed to research.

She dug deeper into the databases, teasing out even the minutest detail. She would know their secrets! She grinned like a mad scientist. She briefly wondered if she should do the evil laugh..But thought better of it. Save the full on crazy for when they can't transfer her easily.
